“Sensory Park” is located in a fresh neighbourhood of Municipality of Kalamaria at Eastern Thessaloniki. This inspiring project was a kind and generous initiative of the city of Kalamaria for kids physically challenged that are hosted at special schools at the same area: Sensory Park is a perfectly planned playground for creative activities and play! And also a relaxation garden and pleasant meeting place for residents and visitors of the neighborhood.
The lighting design concept for the Sensory Garden Project was built on both needs of senses and spirit:
- General lighting of pole systems with multiple luminaires are installed both for the park area and for two (out of four) adjacent-surrounding streets: (1) inside the park illuminating the circulation areas in a moon lighting effect, creating a light & shadow interplay, (2) at Rodopoleos and Petrou Levanti streets replacing their old streetlights.
- Wall-recessed luminaires built in the pathway side concrete structures, illuminating gently the visitors way.
- Decorative lighting emerging under the benches, rising up the arbor, creating intriguing lighting patterns.
