The Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior at Chortiatis was recently completely renovated under the supervision of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Thessaloniki Region. The magnificent Byzantine monument of the 12th century was brought to LIFE & in LIGHT and re-opened its gates to the public.
Lighting design was built around three axes:
(1) Accentuation of the exquisite architecture of the monument -> facade lighting
(2) Optical comfort for the visitors -> general lighting of the surrounding area
(3) Creation of a lighting scene harmonious to the holy character of the monument -> interplay of light & shadow, gentle glow emitted among the nightcolors.
